We are committed, we are purposeful and we are driven by our Mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life for millions of people worldwide.Do meaningful work, make a difference, and improve lives - starting with your own.In this exciting role as a Senior Electrical Engineer you will be part of the Engineering Services - Test Systems Engineering team at the Medtronic Energy and Component Center (MECC) supporting production of batteries used in implantable cardioverter defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy defibrillators. This role will be developing and releasing test systems for MECC's various manufacturing functions. We want an engineer that is ready to provide innovation into our testing technologies. This person should hold the ability to work on a cross functional team, be organized and results driven, that promotes long lasting solutions to better the way we do things here at Medtronic. We are looking for a technically competent, ambitious individual with a strong testing/manufacturing background.

  • Lead the design, development, and test of both manual and automated test systems for testing batteries and battery components that go into our medical devices
  • Utilize fluency in the medical industry documentation processes to execute the qualification and installation of our test equipment, including both hardware and software components
  • Produce thorough and industry leading documentation to support our quality and compliance at Medtronic
  • Support the development of batteries and associated components to be used in medical devices regarding testability
  • Evaluate and develop custom electrical fixture designs to fulfill test specifications for MECC components
  • Research and implement state of the art technologies to enhance test equipment features, improve safety, reliability, and performance; thereby optimizing manufacturing throughput and lowering manufacturing costs
  • Implement Design for Reliability and Manufacturability (DRM) principles within the functional area
  • Support Manufacturing in troubleshooting operations involving medical devices through manufacturing and test
  • Provide technical assistance to other functional departments such as Product Engineering, Quality, Reliability and Manufacturing
  • Lead, mentor and review the designs of less experienced engineers to ensure robustness
  • Serve as an organizational spokesman on advanced test equipment projects and/or programs. Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.
  • Represent the electrical engineering function in the Engineering Services - Test Systems Engineering team and manufacturing partners to communicate strategy, plans, schedules, progress, and accomplishments
  • Work independently under the guidance of an Engineering ManagerMust Have: Minimum RequirementsTo be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident on your resume.
    • Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years product development, test engineering or engineering experience OR Advanced Degree with 2+ years product development, test engineering or engineering experienceNice to Have
      • MS Electrical Engineering
      • National Instruments LabView Certification (Architect Level Preferred)
      • 8 or more years in one or more of the following: medical device design, ultra-low power battery operated systems, test fixture design and development
      • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements that pertain to medical device test systems
